Delfi Magazin Release

How much of the self is in the car, and how much truth is in fiction? To mark the release of its fifth issue, Delfi, the magazine for new literature, invites three authors to discuss the theme: “Auto.” Topics include cars that are won or repossessed, the loving and suffering self, and the car as a symbol of potency. Readings by Jackie Thomae, Jovana Reisinger, and Patty Kim Hamilton. The evening will be hosted by Delfi co-editor Miryam Schellbach.

Jackie Thomae writes novels, short stories, and essays. Her debut novel Momente der Klarheit was published in 2015. Her second novel Brüder was shortlisted for the German Book Prize in 2019 and won the Düsseldorf Literature Prize in 2020. Her novel Glück was published in 2024. She lives in Berlin.

Jovana Reisinger is an author, filmmaker, and visual artist. Her book Spitzenreiterinnen was nominated for the Bavarian Book Prize in 2021. In 2022 she published the essayistic novel Enjoy Schatz, followed by Pleasure in 2024. From 2023 – 2025, she wrote the Single Column for the FAZ.

Patty Kim Hamilton is the author of the plays Peeling Oranges, Sex Play, Schmerz Camp, and Der Himmel Über Uns Ist Sein Eigenes Land. In the 2023/24 season, she was the resident playwright at the Deutsches Theater Berlin. She is currently working on her first novel.

Miryam Schellbach is a literary moderator, critic, program director at Claassen Publishing, and co-editor of Delfi. Most recently, she co-edited the anthology Trotzdem sprechen (Ullstein, 2024) with Lena Gorelik and Mirjam Zadoff.
