My Stolen Planet is a centrepiece of 3 Days to Liberation II; a film like a secret dance through the archives of memory, through a set of images that never saw the light of day, through a collection of voices that refused to stop telling the truth. Farahnaz Sharifi is one of the most prominent voices in Iran’s documentary film scene. Her work – deeply embedded in the country’s visual memory – combines the private and the political, the fragile and that which cannot be destroyed. Memory becomes a form of resistance in My Stolen Planet. The director dances her way through history in a bold gesture that is denied to other women in her country. And along with her, many other women will dance, women who, in their quest for freedom, must go through pain and loss. This film is the heartbeat pulsing inside the dream of liberation.

My Stolen Planet is an essay-documentary by Farahnaz Sharifi tracing the impact of the 1979 Islamic Revolution on the bodies, archives, and memories of Iranian women. From found private Super 8 footage, Sharifi has created a counter-archive of intimacy and a poetic topography of resistance.

Farahnaz Sharifi is a filmmaker, film editor, and author. She studied film at Tehran Soureh University. In her documentary work, she uses archive material and private images to retell personal and collective stories. Apart from her work as a director, she is one of the most renowned film editors in Iranian cinema. Her collection of short stories, Breathing in Open Air, was also released in Iran. The film My Stolen Planet premiered at the 2024 Berlinale in the Panorama section; it was shown at over 60 international festivals, and won her more than 25 awards, including the Golden Alexander at the 2024 Thessaloniki Documentary Festival, Silver Hugo at the Chicago International Film Festival 2024, Second Audience Award at the Berlinale 2024, Best Documentary at the Thessaloniki Documentary Festival, Creative Use of Archive at IDFA 2024, and nominated for the European Film Academy Award 2024.

Farahnaz Sharifi will be present during the screening and participate on the panel following the screening.
