SONGS OF TIME AND TREASON

Modern multi-language balladeer Daniel Kahn, joined by long-time co-conspirators Stella Morgenstern and Christian Dawid, enchants and entertains in the tradition of the ancient travelling bard. In preparation for a new recording project, the trio presents a secret program of songs in many languages, breaking the borders of time and reason, heaven and hell.

Detroit-born expat Kahn (long based in Berlin, now in Hamburg) is internationally celebrated for his mixture of klezmer, punk, folk, and poetry. His work as songwriter and translator draws radical modern power from old song forms.

Pan-instrumentalist composer Christian Dawid is an indispensable figure in the worlds of Yiddish and East European music, working with such groups as Konsonans Retro, Budowitz, and Brave Old World.

Hamburg’s trans-cultural chanteuse Stella Morgenstern’s characteristically deep and narrative voice lends itself to folksongs and chansons in English, Hebrew, Yiddish, and German. Together, the trio has created an evening of bewitching ballads, polyglot poetry, the unexpected and the long suspected.

Just come and join us for a night of song about time and the timeless, the unexpected and the long suspected!

Doors open at 9 PM.
